Our History

A Chain of Events was founded in 2018 when Crystal J. West, President, became aware of a single mother with three children in need of assistance. The family had been homeless for several months until a local nonprofit was able to find the family of four permanent housing. Deeply affected by the family’s situation, Crystal, worked tirelessly for a month utilizing her resources within the community to provide the family with home furnishings and basic household necessities. Inspired by the success, Crystal developed a passion to provide other families with a stepping stone toward a brighter future.

Places for People serves more than 2,200 people annually, offering an individualized approach to health and healing. Places for People is dedicated to shining a light on the road to recovery for those experiencing the toughest cases of mental health and substance use disorder. By combining genuine, human connection with evidence-based care, the expert staff at Places for People works tirelessly to help those we serve develop the skills to effectively manage their illnesses and leave meaningful and productive lives.
